The showroom’s new display showcases CopatLife’s 2.1 system. Dark elm arabica and metallic-effect lacquered cabinetry has been matched with sophisticated 12mm Dekton Keyla suede worktops and includes an integrated Blanco Etagon sink, a brushed black nickel Gessi Su & Giu tap and a powerful 4-zone Miele induction hob with integrated vapour down-draft extraction. The cabinetry and worktop contrast beautifully with the Silestone wall cladding as the polished Calacatta Gold finish provides a luxury marble effect due to its wide grey highlights that are delicately interspersed with golden glints.

A built-in Miele oven and steamer were chosen in an elegant Obsidian black finish for the display to further enhance the worktops’ beauty and the cabinetry’s finish. The hidden walk-in larder design showcases how hidden storage features can be customised in various sizes and solutions to store dry foods and appliances.

The display cabinetry features integrated CopatLife LED lighting technology which is complemented by an intelligent Novy Wall light system under the wall cabinetry that allows the user to easily control the lighting tone and on/off switch through Novy’s Gesture Control technology. In addition, a slim rectangular LED light source over the peninsula creates interest and provides a focal point for a dedicated food preparation task area.

Exclusive to CopatLife is their distinctive ‘Island Block’ unit which features base cabinets that can be contrasted with a range of finishes on the plinth with a raised side and back panel. The unit’s worktop features integrated cooking burners and a sink – ideal for open-plan kitchen-living as a stand-alone kitchen or with wall and tall units. An alternative to hiding kitchen appliances in a walk-larder space is to include CopatLife’s open lateral side system that can be hidden away and accessed behind a side cabinet panel door.

Additional systems from CopatLife available at The Myers Touch include their 3.1 range which offers additional cabinetry and worktop choices such as polished brushed oaks and lacquers, glass and stoneware, in addition to its multifunctional wall system and walk-in solutions such as pantries and larders. Their superior 4.1 range is ideal for homeowners who are seeking innovation, technology and perfection in detail as the system’s technologically advanced features in a new range of kitchen cabinetry shapes, solutions and finishes that allow The Myers Touch in-house design team to create a truly personalised contemporary kitchen space in homes.

Copatlife’s kitchen furniture collection also extends into furniture solutions for living spaces making it the perfect option for customers who are seeking modern shelving, dining tables, storage units, home office and bar areas that blend as part of their kitchen-living space.

Elegant yet progressive: Dornbracht’s VAIA brings together traditional and contemporary style elements to create a balanced design, presenting innovative ways to combine the past and present.

From now, the fittings’ series created by Sieger Design is available in new variants and finishes.

Dornbracht - VAIA Brushed Dark Platinum

The new products include a single-hole mixer with two handles for the washstand. This is also available in a freestanding version, so that the fitting can be placed anywhere in the room.

Also included are products with a smaller projection. The classic single-lever mixer with cold water valves for either wall or deck-mounted installation, and the three-hole fitting with a flat spout, are ideal for guest bathrooms.

Dornbracht - VAIA creating a natural balance with various materials

The aesthetic cross-handles with their defined radii now act as a connecting element for the entire bathroom. In the shower, for example, they are a striking design highlight. VAIA’s tulip-shaped rosettes are also rediscovered at the new bathroom towel rail.

Dornbracht - VAIA Brushed Platinum

Furthermore, the choice of finishes are expanded with the addition of Dark Chrome, Champagne (22kt Gold) and Brushed Champagne (22kt Gold). The warm golden tones are especially harmonious when combined with natural materials and colours.

The captivating feature of Dark Chrome, on the other hand, demonstrates an understated elegance.

Dornbracht - VAIA Brushed Dark Platinum

VAIA’s balanced design language fits into a variety of contemporary interiors, into traditional and modern minimalist bathroom architectures, as well as those that bring together elements from differently styled worlds.

Dornbracht - VAIA Chrome

It is fully committed to the Transitional Style, an interior design trend in which past and present are innovatively intertwined. The familiar boundaries are shifting where the bathroom becomes an area of creative tension between tradition and modernity.

VAIA’s open and progressive design underlines this approach. Playing with contrasts, the design series skilfully combines geometric and organic contours to make a graceful and balanced whole.

This week’s instalment of the Project of the Week series features a glamorous bathroom design by 2022 SBID Awards Finalist, Jasmin Reese Interiors.

SBID Awards Category: Residential Budget Up To £50,000

Practice: Jasmin Reese Interiors

Project: Black and Teal Dreamy Bathroom

Location: Illinois, Unites States of America

What was the client’s brief?

The brief of the Project was to create a hip “powder room” in this industrial loft space that also doubled as a guest bathroom.

What inspired the design of the project?

At the beginning of each project, I meet with clients for a “Style Session” meeting, it is a meeting to determine the programmatic requirements of the project, budget, and I also try to see how high octane the client would go. In this case the client responded to a lot of sexy hotel interiors, black chic rooms, and moody interiors, so we went in that direction.

What was the toughest hurdle your team overcame during the project?

Our biggest hurdle was getting the materials, it was during Covid so information was not as fast as we were used to and reselecting materials when they became out of stock was challenging to keep the project moving forward.

What was your team’s highlight of the project?

The wallpaper was the biggest highlight! It was really fun to be able to wrap a large scale print on the walls and also the door in a small space.

Why did you enter the SBID Awards?

I think the SBID awards showcase designs that are unique, colorful, and fresh.

Questions answered by Jasmin Reese, Owner, Jasmin Reese Interiors.

We hope you feel inspired by this week’s design!

Modern minimalism at its most pure: A radical reworking of Dornbracht’s Meta.02 kitchen fitting has produced the new Meta Square. A consistent reduction in form underlines the elegance and versatility of the classic design. The series is complemented by new finishes and additional variants.

In this kitchen, organic forms encounter strict geometry, experimental colour combinations meet neutral tones. On the left: Meta Square in Brushed Champagne (22kt Gold) as a single-lever mixer, on the right as a Bar Tap.

Meta Square is delicate and contemporary

“The design refinements give Meta Square an essentially more delicate and therefore contemporary appearance. We have minimised the diameter of the body of the fitting, without having to use a rosette. The additional height of the fitting, the lack of a groove in the lower part of the lever and the integrated flow reducer in the spout, make Meta Square seem sleeker and more noticeably minimalist. At the same time, the right-angled bend of the spout underlines the clarity and succinctness of the fitting, as in the previous generation. A culture of fine differences,” says Michael Sieger from Sieger Design, who is the designer responsible for the refinements.

The square bend in the spout is the primary characteristic of Meta Square.
Meta Square in Matte Black as a Bar Tap.

Available in new finishes and variants

From now on, Meta Square can also be obtained in three new finishes: Champagne (22kt Gold), Brushed Champagne (22kt Gold), and Dark Chrome. While the latter lends an unobtrusive elegance to the kitchen fitting, the sensuous and warm gold colour of the first two, has a persuasive appeal. In addition to this, the classic design is now also available in a pull-down version or as a Bar Tap, for preliminary activities.

The kitchen is increasingly becoming the focal point of every home. Meta Square as a single-lever mixer.

Cosmopolitan fusion in the kitchen

By interacting with various colours and materials, Meta Square consciously creates different ambiences. It is the ideal component for contemporary concepts to turn the kitchen into the focal point of the home, perfect for expressing an individual lifestyle. “Cosmopolitan fusion” architecture is one such inspiring example. It combines contrasting elements into something totally new: Eye-catching Pink and expressive Dark Green make a stylistically assured combination. An experimental liaison, it is complemented by coloured glass and ceramic accessories, as well as soft rosé textile elements.

“Cosmopolitan fusion” is an expression of the individual lifestyle of the occupants. Meta Square as a Bar Tap.
The “cosmopolitan fusion” kitchen inspiration: Meta Square in Matte Black harmonises subtly with the expressive terrazzo natural stone, and the pink wooden fronts of the kitchen units.

Meta Square demonstrates versatility and variability in this world: The Matte Black fitting blends in subtly, harmonising stylishly with the identically coloured Dornbracht sinks, and the expressive terrazzo pattern of the natural stone backdrop. The exciting contrast created by the Brushed Champagne (22kt Gold) finish, on the other hand, accentuates the kitchen design with exceptional elegance.

Award-winning kitchen designers, The Myers Touch are delighted to showcase their recent projects that enhance homeowners’ sense of bringing the ‘outside in’ all year round.

Designer, Helena Myers explains “Homeowners want to engage with their outside environment in a greater way than ever before as it enhances positive emotions. By drawing in the sounds, smells and visual pleasures of their garden, they can fully enhance their sense of an indoor-outdoor lifestyle whilst being inside your kitchen.”

The Myers Touch designed this contemporary kitchen within an extension that blends into their garden space – photography by Miriam Sheridan.

Renowned for creating kitchens with ‘Light, Space and Laughter’, The Myers Touch regularly collaborate with homeowners, architects and landscapers to not only create a kitchen-living space that looks and functions practically with a client’s outside space, but one that also provides a feeling of increased happiness and connectivity that allows families to eat, dine and relax together in one combined space.

The Myers Touch designed this contemporary kitchen within an extension with plenty of windows and glazed doors that easily blend into their garden space – photography by Miriam Sheridan.

By choosing complementary materials and tones from the outside, The Myers Touch designers regularly create harmonious interior schemes within kitchen design spaces that link both the inside and the outside. For example, blending natural, warm cabinetry, sleek worktops and a mix of materials such as slim wooden cladding merges seamlessly with the vibrant and natural colour tones of their outside. Designer, Keith Myers says “Enhancing the indoor-outdoor can be further achieved using textures that match the bricks of external walls. Using wood can elongate the space and timber brings warmth to cabinetry in cooler shades.”

The Myers Touch regularly work directly with homeowners who commission them to design a spacial remodel of their ground floor space so a larger, lighter and more family-focused kitchen-living area can be created which features a connection to their outside space. Designer Helena Myers explains; “We love to introduce the natural world into homes using a biophilic design approach in our kitchen designs. From large glass structural spaces to adding a feature glass window that reflects green foliage, herbs and plants in your garden to connect your kitchen with your outdoor space.”

Designed to create a multi-functional kitchen space ideal for daily use, the system is integrated into the countertop, opening possibilities for users to prepare, cook and dine in the same space; a seamlessly designed kitchen top made for dining and entertaining. The technology combines the high-performance of RAK Ceramics porcelain slabs, with an innovative induction system that operates through a magnetic field. They are also resistant to moisture and do not easily stain, making them easier to clean.

CookingRAK is exclusively produced with RAK Ceramics porcelain slabs in 14.5mm thickness and 135.5×305 cm size. The slabs can withstand high temperatures and with a surface hardness that resists scratching and staining. They are also an ideal material for kitchen countertops as they are very hygienic, food-safe, and less likely to harbour moulds and bacteria. To conveniently locate the cooking zones on the countertop, the RAK Ceramics slabs can be customised to add special markings in six modifications that will suit any kitchen style.

The flowing yet puristic design of MEM from Dornbracht is reminiscent of the most natural and original form of water presentation: spring. The fitting takes a deliberate step back, and by doing so, is fully taken up by the individual ambience of the architecture. The series stands for clarity, reduction, and balance, and thanks to the extensive enhancement, it now offers an even greater variety of design options.

MEM in Champagne

More variants, more options

Dornbracht provides several new variants for the washing area: The washbasin fitting is now also available as a single-lever basin mixer and a three-hole mixer with a flat spout. Joining the wall-mounted fittings line-up, are a single-lever mixer, a three-hole mixer, and a monobloc single-lever mixer. The latter is a totally new product type. All five of the new products have one thing in common – they are perfect for small bathrooms and have an aesthetic impact there. Another impressive new highlight is the slender, freestanding single-lever bath mixer which can be positioned anywhere in the room, as the main attraction.

The new finishes have a satisfying depth of colour and brilliance

MEM is impressive, not just for this great product variety, but also for its wide choice of surface finishes. From now on, the series, which was created by Sieger Design, will also be available in Dark Chrome, Champagne (22kt Gold) and Brushed Champagne (22kt Gold). While the Dark Chrome represents subtle elegance, the warm golden hue of the two Champagne finishes sets a refined tone.

MEM in Champagne

Traditional craftsmanship used for hammer textured handles

New textured handles complete the series enhancements. These are produced by the so-called hammering technique, a traditional and skilled manual working method that creates decorative surface finishes. The indentations and projections formed by hammering reflect instant light, creating glossy and matt areas. This gives the handle a unique texture that is pleasant to touch. Its complex nature stands in fascinating contrast to the strict form of the MEM handle geometry. This elaborate manufacturing process makes every handle unique.

Back to basics

Both the new products and the MEM variants that have been available in the market for 20 years, prove to be unobtrusive and visible at the same time. A spout with a 180-degree bend, an invisibly integrated jet regulator and minimalist handles, the series embodies a basic aesthetic appeal that intentionally avoids any extrovert elements. Conceived according to the Dornbracht design principles – proportion, precision, progressiveness, performance, and personality – MEM conforms directly to the Dornbracht claim of creating “Leading Designs for Architecture”.
